We understand that falling ill, suffering an accident or dealing with an emergency can be more difficult to cope with when you're away from home. So we make everything as stress free as possible. Should you need assistance, a Europ Assistance Representative is always at the end of the phone to help you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The policy includes emergency medical cover and repatriation, unavoidable cancellation and the cutting short of your holiday, personal possessions and luggage insurance. You can choose from annual multi-trip, single trip and winter sports options.
Plus, through our extensive worldwide network, Europ Assistance has people on the ground to help you should anything go wrong. And as well as working with trusted medical practitioners across the globe, we also employ qualified doctors and medical staff at our office in the UK. So you see, when it's your welfare at stake, or a member of your family's, we leave nothing to chance.

We can provide the following services before you go:

Medical Emergency and Repatriation
We will pay up to £5million in reasonable medical expenses for the immediate needs of an unforeseen medical emergency including Medical Practitioner fees, hospital expenses, in-patient and out-patient medical treatment and charges for medical treatment and charges for medical transportation to the nearest suitable hospital abroad, when deemed necessary by a Medical Practitioner.
Cover is also provided for burial or cremation abroad up to £2,500 or transportation costs of returning home your body or ashes.
Please note this policy is subject to medical screening which may result in an additional premium being charged. Pre-existing medical conditions are only covered if they are accepted by us in writing.
Additional Accomodation and Travelling Costs
We will pay up to £2,000 per trip, provided you contact us first, if our Medical Officer confirms it is medically necessary for you to be accompanied on the trip home, and the return journey cannot take place on the original date, we will pay for the additional travelling costs and accomodation costs incurred by one person staying with you and accompanying you on the trip home.
Cancellation, Curtailment and Trip Interruption
We will pay up to a maximum of £5,000 per person for financial loss you suffer such as non-refundable deposits and amounts you have paid or contracted to pay for travel and accommodation you do not use because you are unable to commence travel or complete the trip.
The reason for cancelling or cutting short your trip must be due to one of the reasons listed in your policy, such as unforeseen illness or death of a previously healthy family member.
Travel Delay
If the departure of your first outward or final inward international flight, sea crossing or coach or train jorney is delayed as a direct result of an unexpected strike, industrial action, adverse weather conditions, failure of air traffic control systems or mechanical breakdown of aircraft, sea vessel, coach or train for more than 12 hours we will pay £20 per person for the first 12 hours and a further £10 per hour each subsequent full 12 hours delay up to a maximum of £200 per person per trip.
Home Country Departure Assistance & Missed Home Country Connection
We will meet the additional costs incurred if:
- after leaving home you miss your outward connection as a result of disruption or delay of public transport or breakdown/accident of the private vehicle in which you are travelling; or
- on your return journey, your main international carrier is delayed and you miss pre-booked and pre-paid internal travel connections by scheduled public transport
Missed Departure on the Outward Journey
If you arrive at the airport, port or international coach/rail terminal too late to start the outward international journey abroad as a result of:
- Breakdown or accident involving the vehicle you are travelling in; or
- Cancellation or curtailment of scheduled public transport due to adverse weather conditions, strike or industrial action or mechanical breakdown or accident
We will pay for reasonable additional travelling and accommodation costs incurred to reach your booked destination by the most direct alternative route.
Personal Luggage
Up to £2,500 per person if during a trip your personal luggage is damaged, stolen, destroyed or lost.
Luggage Delay
We will pay up to the amount specified for the purchase of essential items if your luggage is certified by the Carrier as having been lost or misplaced on the outward journey of a trip.
Money & Passport
Up to £500 per person (maximum of £250 for banknotes) if you lose the money you are carrying on your person or left in a security deposit box is stolen, damaged or destroyed.
Up to £300 for reasonable additional travel and accomodation expenses incurred abroad to obtain a replacement passport if yours is lost or stolen during a trip. We don't cover the replacment cost of the passport itself.
Legal Protection
We will provide telephone advice, guidance and assistance on any legal problem which arises in connection with a trip or in connection with your home. This service is available when you start your trip until 7 days after you return home.
Optional Winter Sports Cover
If you are under 65, upon payment of the Winter Sports Premium, you can extend your policy to cover certain specified winter sports and activities
We will pay up to the amounts specified for the following
- Skis, ski equipment lost or damaged during a trip - £500
- Ski passes lost stolen or damaged whilst you are carrying it or from a safety box - £250
In addition, payment of the Winter Sports Premium extends your policy to include:
- Hire of replacement ski equipment certified as misplaced for more than 12 hours by your Carrier on the outward journey of a trip - £15 per day up to a total of £300
- Insufficient snow at your pre-booked resort causing a total closure of the ski lift system for more than 24 consecutive hours (Piste Closure) - £20 per day up to a total of £200
- Avalanche or landslide blocking access to your ski resort -£30 per day up to a toal of £150
